  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or rosemary)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine yeast mixture with eggs, softened butter, flour, and salt; knead until smooth (5-7 minutes). Cover and let rise for about an hour.
  3. Melt butter in a pan; sauté minced garlic for 2 minutes and stir in chopped herbs.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle; brush garlic herb butter on top and sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly.
  5. Roll into a log, slice lengthwise, twist halves together with cut sides up.
  6. Place in greased pan; let rise for another 30-40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush top with egg wash and bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for about 15 minutes before slicing.
