  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1½ cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • Topping: 1½ cups brown sugar, 5 tablespoons flour, 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 6 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan.
  2. Cream together softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in whole milk and sourdough discard until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together baking powder and flour; gradually add to wet ingredients without overmixing.
  6. Prepare topping by mixing brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the pan, sprinkle half of the topping over it, add remaining batter, then top with leftover topping.
  8. Bake for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
