  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • 4 burger buns (preferably brioche)
  • Butter, for toasting the buns
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup cooked turkey bacon or plant-based bacon
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baconnaise sauce by mixing mayonnaise, crumbled turkey bacon, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Divide the ground beef into four portions and form loose balls. Smash each ball onto the hot skillet to about ½ inch thick.
  4. Season patties with salt and pepper; cook undisturbed for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.
  5. Flip patties and place cheese on top; cover to melt cheese for about one minute.
  6. Butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them until golden brown.
