Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup milk (warmed)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 cup mashed bananas
  • 5 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warmed milk and yeast in a bowl; let it froth for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Mix mashed bananas, egg, salt, sugar, and butter in a large bowl. Add the yeast mixture and gradually incorporate flour until a dough forms.
  3. Knead until smooth and let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare filling by mixing brown sugar with cinnamon; roll out dough into a rectangle and spread butter on top.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mix and layer sliced bananas before rolling tightly into a log shape.
  6. Cut into rolls and let rise again for 30 minutes before baking at 350°F for about 30 minutes.
  7. While cooling slightly, prepare icing by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla; drizzle over warm rolls.
